Olympia

Olympia is one of the most important archaeological sites in Greece. The ancient Olympic Games were organized right there. The only prize to the Olympic winners was an olive branch and a great honor. Next to the athletic installations an entire sanctuary, dedicated to god Zeus, was constructed. The Ancient Stadium of Olympia was a holy place for Greeks. It was originally constructed in a way that spectators could see the events from the banks of Mount Cronion, but was gradually moved further east. Do not miss the opportunity to visit the Archaeological Museum, which is considered to be one of the best museums in Greece. It host some of the most spectacular Classical and Roman sculptures in the country such as the statues of Hermes of Praxiteles and of Nike Paionios.

Messenia

Messenia is located in the southwestern part of the Peloponnese region. It consists of endless coastline and beautiful mountains. This region has a great history background therefore visitors can admire classical and byzantine monuments, castles and churches. The capital and the biggest city is Kalamata, famous for it olives. Messenia has many gorgeous beaches but Voidokilia beach stands out. It is one the most beautiful beaches in the Mediterranean Sea. The beach has an interesting shape of the Greek letter omega, while its sand forms dunes. Its gold thin sand and turquoise water invites you to take a swim. The Greek government recognized officially Voidokilia as a landscape of extraordinary natural beauty.
